HOW WE WORK
Every expedition begins with your question.
There is no standard LEX|NYC itinerary.
We begin with what you want to understand, then design the journey around the people, places and perspectives that can help you explore it.
Expeditions are designed for leadership teams, organizations, universities, entrepreneurs and other groups looking to use New York as a place to learn, question and connect.
FROM QUESTION TO JOURNEY
A carefully designed process behind every expedition.
Each expedition takes shape through a collaborative process.
Research, relationships and careful sequencing turn an initial question into a journey through New York.
DEFINE
Clarify what matters.
Together, we identify what you want to explore, why it matters and what you hope the expedition will help you see differently.
CURATE
Find the right perspectives.
We research and identify the people, organizations and places best suited to illuminate the question from different angles.
DESIGN
Build the sequence.
We bring those elements together so that each encounter adds context, challenges assumptions or prepares what comes next.
PREPARE
Make the experience flow.
We coordinate hosts, schedules and movement through the city, while preparing participants to make the most of each encounter.
EXPERIENCE & REFLECT
Connect what you discover.
During the expedition, we facilitate the journey and create space for reflection—connecting what the group encounters in New York with its own work.
FORMAT
Designed for depth,
not volume.
Most LEX|NYC expeditions unfold over three to five days, allowing ideas, encounters and observations to build across the journey. Focused one-day formats can also be designed when the question and objectives call for it.
Groups are intentionally kept small. Around 8–12 participants often creates the right balance for genuine exchange, easy movement through the city and meaningful interaction with hosts. Smaller groups can work beautifully too; other formats can be discussed depending on the objectives and scope of the expedition.
Days are active but thoughtfully paced, combining conversations, visits and moments to reflect on what is emerging along the way.

PLANNING AHEAD
Good conversations
take time to arrange.
Many of the people we hope to bring into an expedition plan their schedules months in advance. Most journeys therefore benefit from three to six months of preparation.
Shorter timelines can sometimes be accommodated, depending on the question, format and availability of the people involved.

Third-party program expenses—such as special venues, honoraria or paid experiences—are quoted separately and agreed in advance.
WHAT WE TAKE CARE OF
From first question
to final reflection.
A LEX|NYC expedition involves much more than the days spent together in New York. We take care of the research, curation and coordination that allow the journey itself to feel seamless.
BEFORE
Defining the question and objectives.
Researching the topic and New York ecosystem.
Identifying and approaching potential hosts.
Designing the sequence of meetings, places and experiences.
Coordinating schedules and preparing the program.
DURING
Facilitating the expedition.
Managing the flow of the day and transitions between encounters.
Providing context as the journey unfolds.
Creating space for discussion, reflection and debriefing.
FOR THE JOURNEY
A digital roadbook with the schedule, people, places and practical information participants need along the way.
Travel to New York, accommodation and personal expenses are arranged separately. Program-specific expenses such as special venues, paid experiences or honoraria are agreed in advance.
GOOD TO KNOW
A few practical
details.
-
No. Flights, accommodation, airport transfers and personal travel expenses are arranged separately by participants or their organization. We’re happy to share recommendations when useful.
-
We recommend appropriate travel insurance for everyone taking part in an expedition. Participants should also check any coverage provided through their employer, credit card or existing policy.
-
Yes. Please let us know as early as possible so we can take individual needs into account when designing the journey.
-
New York is dynamic, and so are the people we meet. Occasionally a host or activity may need to change. When that happens, we adapt the program while preserving the purpose and quality of the expedition.
